Physical Education Teacher Itinerant Program (PETIP)

Cahuenga Elementary School received the PETIP grant in August of 2016. Through this grant, PETIP will fund a credentialed physical education itinerant teacher, one day per week at our school for two years to provide embedded professional development for designated teachers during physical education instruction.  This model is designed to provide teachers with pedagogy and content knowledge needed to assist them in meeting the state mandated 200 minutes of physical education every 10 school days. Participating teachers will gradually assume the role of providing physical education instruction with the assistance of the itinerant teacher as a coach, no later than the second semester of year 1. These teachers will also share standards and lessons with grade-level teachers. In addition, we received physical education equipment to be used solely during PE.

tae kwon do

Tae Kwon Do is a popular form of Korean martial arts and is known to teach all students discipline in mind and body. Our Tae Kwon Do program is funded by the Korean government through Beyond the Bell. Tae Kwon Do is provided to all Cahuenga students in grades 2-5 every Friday for 12 weeks. After 12 weeks of Tae Kwon Do, students are awarded certificates and colored belts for their achievements.
