Greetings Elementary graduates, teachers, and parents,
I am proud to say that we, the 5th graders, are moving on to a higher form of education. Moving on forward feels excited but it is also hard to say goodbye to the old memories we have had here at Cahuenga.
Since the first day, we tried to fit in and make friends. We did make friends and we had fun together. As time passes we got used to our teachers and then we moved onto the next grade and the same cycle repeated. Some friends left and new friends came.
Finally the time has arrived to say goodbye to everything all the good moments and all of the bad moments, and the places we have been for most of six years. Even though as a student, I know that you used to hate coming to school nearly every single day.
At this moment, I would like to recall our memories at Cahuenga. At Fall Festival, we had run around whole playground, played games, and ate multinational foods. I personally loved petting animals zone. When we visited Sacramento and looked around UC Berkeley, we had a chance to have a vision about our future collage. We had a class pizza party as a prize when we were deserve. We all were so proud and happy when Cahuenga has selected as a one of the best 50 schools at LAUSD. At the book fair, we were so excited to have new books because we love reading books. Also I remember all the fun times at Math Kangaroo, Orchestra, community service activities, etc.
Cahuenga had encouraged students to participate AR, Lexia, IXL, and Jiji Math which are computer based learning programs. Not only we had a great chance to be exposed to the technology using the computer but also we were able to get medals as the devoted efforts.

저는 코행가 초등학교에 다니는 5학년 이민주입니다. 저희 선생님 성함은 김 성순 선생님입니다. 저는 한국어 이중언어 반에 6년째 다니고 있습니다. 코행가 초등학교에 이중언어 프로그램은 저의 생활에 많은 영향을 주었습니다. 이중언어 반에서 저는 한국어와 영어 두 언어를 배웠습니다. 제가 유치원에 다닐때 저는 한국어 만 말할 수가 있었습니다. 그러나 한국어 이중언어반에 와서 선생님들께서 저에게 두 언어로 듣기, 말하기, 읽기 와 쓰기를 가르쳐 주셨습니다.
저는 이중언어를 할 수 있는 제 자신이 자랑스럽습니다. 제가 크면 한국어를 더 잘하게 될 것입니다.제가 커서 직장을 찾을 때에도 이중언어를 할 수 있는 것이 큰 경쟁력을 가져서 유리 할 것이라 믿습니다. 그래서 더 좋은 직업을 가질 수 있다고 확신합니다.
한국어 이중언어반에 또 다른 혜택은 학생들이 한국 문화를 배울 수 있다는 것입니다. 한국어 이중언어반에서 저는 한국 역사와 한국 음악을 배웠습니다. 저는 거북선을 만든 이순신 장군 책도 읽었습니다. 5학년 김선생님 반과 4학년 이 선생님 반에서는 사물놀이, 부채춤 그리고 탈춤을 배워서 공연을 했습니다. 저는 한국 동요도 부를수 있습니다.
또한 저는 저희 할아버지와 할머니와 한국말로 대화를 할 수 있습니다.저는 학교생활을 할아버지 할머니께 한국말로 말씀 드리고, 할머니께서 해주시는 한국 이야기를 듣고 이해할 수 있습니다. 마켓과 상점에 가서 영어를 알지 못하는 할머니를 위해 한국말로 통역을 해 드리기도 합니다. 그러면 할머니께서는 저를 자랑스러워 하십니다.
코행가 한국어 이중언어반은 저에게 학문적으로도, 사회적으로도 많은 도움을 주었습니다. 유치원 때의 Miller 선생님, 1학년때 전 선생님, 2학년때 이 선생님, 3학년때 박 선생님, 4학년때 이 선생님 그리고 지금 5학년 김 선생님께서 저에게 많은 것을 가르쳐 주셨습니다. Helen Yu 교장선생님께서는 아주 좋은 프로그램을 우리에게 주셨고 항상 깊은 존경심으로 우리를 대해 주셨습니다.
모든 선생님들과 교장 선생님 그리고 부모님들 한해동안 저희에게 지원해 주신 모든 것들로 너무 너무 감사합니다.
이제 저희들은 정들었던 코행가 초등학교를 떠나서 각자 다른 중학교에 진학하지만 어디를 가더라도 여기서 했던 것 이상으로 열심히 공부할 것을 약속합니다. 코행가 초등학교에서 배운 것들은 저희들이 더 큰 세상으로 나가서 큰 꿈을 펼치는데 밑거름이 될 것입니다. 저희를 오늘까지 키워주신 부모님들과 선생님들, 그리고 정들었던 친구들, 사랑합니다!! 감사합니다.

Good morning, honored guests, parents, teachers, administration, and Cahuenga staff. Welcome to the 2016 culmination for Cahuenga’s fifth grade students!
Congratulations Cahuenga graduates! Today is the day when we celebrate half a decade of achievements, perseverance, and success. We have gotten more mature, developed common sense, and have learned so much on this journey.
Today is also a bittersweet day for us, as we say goodbye to our friends, teachers, and the Cahuenga staff. Thank you for supporting our journey, and making education our top priority.
Today is also a day of great excitement and nervousness as we embark on our journey to middle school. Everyone is so excited and nervous to go into middle school. New friends will be made. New adventures, challenges and learning experiences will be ahead of us. Pursue your dreams! The sky isn’t the limit! Nothing is impossible! If you can dream it, you can do it! So, just do it!
It’s amazing how time flies! These past years have been so amazing and magical at Cahuenga. We’ve had great times together, especially on our recent field trip to see the movie, Alice Through the Looking Glass. We will cherish memories like these forever.
Sadly, it is now time to say our goodbyes and thank everyone who has supported us. On behalf of all of our fellow classmates, we would like to thank our families, teachers, and everyone who has supported us throughout these years. And remember class of 2016---Reach for those stars!!!!
